Action Calendar
Organizing activities and actions on major action days has many benefits. That's why the 8 Goals Campaign holds its flagship actions on specific days during the academic year. In 2008/09, these days of action will be:
- October 17-19 to mark the International Day for the Eradication of Poverty. Click here to know more about STAND UP and SPEAK OUT, our flagship action for this important day.
- February 1 to 7 to celebrate the International Development Week. Click here to know more about this Canadian week of education and action.
There are other action days that your group can capitalize on to organize activities and actions related to the Millennium Development Goals. Below is the extended list of major action days during the academic year. These days are especially helpful if your group is focusing on a specific Goal. Remember that holding events around key action days has many benefits, namely:
- Media outlets may be more welcoming of event notices and articles.
- The issue will be already heightened in the public consciousness.
- Events may coincide with important government announcements or other publications.
- Action days are a great opportunity to team up with other like-minded groups. You can plan activities together or advertise each other's events.
